The New Year’s Concert at La Fenice traditionally presents a two-part musical program: the first part is entirely for orchestra and the second part is focused on opera, with a selection of arias, duets and choral passages performed by prestigious soloists and the La Fenice Choir. Every year the New Year’s Concert closes with two famous pieces by Giuseppe Verdi, masterpieces of the Italian Opera: the Chorus “Va’ pensiero sull’ali dorate” from Nabucco and the festive “Libiam ne’ lieti calici” from La Traviata.
